In Vain In Vanity, Lim Charlotte’s first solo art exhibition is an empowering movement in its own right, full of the personal and interpersonal. Showcasing strife in physical and mental intimacy, it seeks to articulate and demonstrate what happens when the self defies sexual affirmation.

Lim’s work literally and metaphorically revolves around the human body’s ornate form with semi-surreal manipulations of both placement and size. The effect each piece has on the viewers psyche allows for multiple interpretations of a tenuous existence in shared spaces. Her themes showcase great power, and conversely, great vulnerability, with each painting or portrait conversing to display the makeup of a single human being.

Life is but a series of compensations, all is vain and in vain; try to have some fun with it.
