‘Infinite Diversity’ featuring modern and contemporary artists from the Land of the Rising Sun in a spectrum of artistic styles that reflects the dynamism and variety of Japanese art .
Two distinct periods of Japanese art will be presented. Representing the modern period is the esteemed Kazuo Shiraga, prominent member from the influential Gutai avant-garde art movement and a true master of abstract expressionism characterised by his raw, robust and powerful strokes.
For contemporary Japanese art, a selection of the most influential and sought after Japanese artists will be showcased. From the whimsical world of Takashi Murakami to the hypnotic polka dotted works of Yayoi Kusama, the child-like characters of Nara Yoshitomo, the ethereal dreamscape of Kazuki Takamatsu, the bubble encased figures of Kohei Nawa and the philosophical photography works of the celebrated Hiroshi Sugimoto. This kaleidoscope of art from Japan’s most sought-after artists reflects the bold, adventurous and visionary mindset of Japanese artists of the contemporary era.
