UOB Art Gallery is proud to present Island Story, a solo art exhibition by Mr Khairulddin bin Abdul Wahab, 2018 UOB Painting of the Year (POY) Singapore, Top Winner, Established Artist Category.

In Island Story, Mr Khairulddin commemorates Singapore’s Bicentennial by taking reference from local folklore to depict Singapore’s early history. In his Island Story series, Mr Khairulddin features folklore heroes such as Badang the Magnificent as well as historical figures such as Zheng He. Mr Khairulddin applies a layered painting technique to his artwork in this series to create vivid forms and figures.

The exhibition features 14 artworks including a series of paintings that chart the journey of Toah, a 14th century sea nomad who was a guide for famous Chinese explorer, Zheng He.
All artworks except the UOB POY 2018 painting, Rite of Passage, are for sale.
