The exhibition will be held at the Luxe Art Museum in Singapore’s Dhoby Ghaut district from October 20 to 25, 2017. It will display about 60 pieces of curated masterpieces by member calligraphers of Nihon Shodo Bijutsuin, across four categories: Sino-Japanese ideograms (“kanji”), Japanese syllabary (“kana”), new calligraphic art and seal carving.
At the exhibition, visiting calligraphers from the academy will hold invigorating calligraphy performances expressing the strength and energy of Japanese calligraphy through a brush, and also provide opportunities for visitors to learn and practice calligraphy. The performances will take place daily from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. except for October 25. The number of participants for calligraphy trial is limited. All activities are free of charge.
Japan Cultural Workshop Day: In addition, on October 21, 2017, Sunstar will co-organize a series of workshops and events with its partners to bring Japanese calligraphy and culture to the heartland communities of Singapore. Visitors will be able to enjoy calligraphy performances, learn and practice calligraphy and have opportunities for other Japanese cultural experience.
