Two durational performance pieces by Jason Lim, over a period of about four weeks, sees Earl Lu Gallery transformed into an open studio.
Jason begins on opening night with Duet with light, a performance involving fire and wax. Over the course of several weeks, he will return frequently to the space to perform this piece. Once satisfied with the outcome, he will move on to his second performance that involves clay – Under the shadow of the banyan tree. Again, he will return to the gallery to work on this installation. In transforming the gallery into an open studio, where the development of the work is in full view for all, Jason encourages visitors to witness the exhibition’s transformation to completion, from its blank start to its fully finished form.
