Li Na is an independent artist based in China and Japan. Her love for porcelain has grown while scouring antique flea markets for unexpected finds in Japan. She is particularly passionate about Chinese blue-and-white porcelains. In her words, “Blue-and-white porcelain is China’s prized possession; they bear important witness to Chinese historical changes through the ages and are steeped in cultural meaning. Perhaps it is fated that I should re-discover my artistic expression through porcelain!”
Indeed, porcelain’s enigmatic charm belies the level of mastery involved in vitrification, giving porcelain its famed beauty and durability. As an art form, it has stood the test of time and is admired by all classes of Chinese society from aristocrats to civilians.
Li Na continually works at perfecting her craftsmanship in porcelain art. With purpose and gratitude, her resultant works are organic yet reflexive, urbane imbued with classical elements: a true blend of East-West sensibilities as she navigates from country to country. Following the successful run of her 2014 art exhibition in Osaka, Li Na will reprise her solo exhibition in Singapore with AC43 in an exhibition titled “Li Na’s Artistic Journey with Porcelains”, starting 25 July 2016.
