Visual art stalwart Objectifs will celebrate its 20th anniversary this month with an exhibition of the centre’s milestones and the launch of a print fundraiser to support the expansion of its physical premises in March 2024.
The exhibition, titled “Making Space”, will showcase different moments from Objectifs history. It reflects the different ways in which it has engaged with the needs of the photography and film community and the conditions of the Singapore art scene, and how it has made room for different forms of visual storytelling, encouraging dialogue and conversations about issues and art along the way. Since its inception, Objectifs has worked with many of Singapore’s established artists, including Darren Soh, Amanda Heng and Robert Zhao Renhui, and supported emerging talents such as Zulkhairi Zulkiflee, Woong Soak Teng and Marvin Tang.
This exhibition is held in conjunction with Objectifs’ 20th anniversary fundraising campaign. The print fundraiser will see the inclusion of works by Southeast Asian artists for the first time, reflecting Objectifs’ growing regional presence. Twenty Singapore and Southeast Asian artists have each generously allowed Objectifs to produce specially editioned prints of their works that will be gifted to the fundraiser’s donors. These artists have worked with Objectifs in various capacities ranging from exhibiting artists, to mentors, to participants of the many developmental programmes that Objectifs has presented. The works represent the broad range of image-making practices that Objectifs supports and nurtures.
