Showcasing the best of realism and imagination of when East meets West, this exhibition will illustrate the harmonious blend of cultures through exhibiting two different aesthetics contrasting each other. With this juxtaposition, Corda and Lee also demonstrate a well fused consistency through magnifying movement: movement of the body, of the brush, of the paint, and even the movement of the viewers’ eyes. By the very strength of their art, they breathe life into matter.
Few artists have the ability to expertly develop artwork that encapsulates themes of simplicity, movement, and realism, all into a single work. Amongst these, Mauro Corda and Lee Jung Woong excel. The idea of movement is a very prominent concept explored seamlessly in both bodies of work, as well as the contrast of realistic versus unrealistic. Though Corda’s works portray a sense of realism through bodily details, the positions simultaneously flirt with the very limits of a human body’s capacities. In Lee’s world, his work may be as simple as a brush splash onto a canvas, but he has explored the extendibility of realism just by simply applying precise strokes.
