As If We Had Never Said Goodbye is Melissa Teo’s revisitation of the familiar, yet endearing Chinatown district and Tiong Bahru neighbourhood. Looking at Melissa’s paintings, it is easy to understand why she has a soft spot for things vintage. Her graphic design background also shows through in her work. The pieces are mainly rendered with a thoughtful balance of bold black-and-white spaces infused with the playful use of strong lines. Intermittent splashes of colour add interest to the otherwise predominantly monochromatic compositions.
