Mizu Tetsuo was born in Tokyo on 13th December 1944. This exhibition introduces the artist’s later abstract works, inspired by international maritime signal flags. International Maritime signal Flags are various flags used to communicate with ships. These flags are of different color and shapes put together and each flag can represent an alphabet, a number or code words. Mizu adopt these patterns with fond memories of flag games he use to play with his daughter when he was in Italy. He created rhythmic pattern signal abstractions with his signature mute color palettes.
