Nanyang-Link Huang-He-Spirit Oil Painting Exhibition showcases a collection of paintings by fifteen established regional artists from Singapore, Malaysia and China, with special guest artists participating – Lim Tze Peng, Dr Ho Kah Leong (Singapore), Professor Chung Kin San (Hong Kong-China), Mr Steve Yenadhira (Thailand), and Mr Wattna Ngamrangsima (Indonesia).
Oil painting first entered the Southeast Asia and East Asia region in the 16th century, influencing generations of artists ever since. This exhibition is a cultural exchange of art by artists from Singapore, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Indonesia. This group of fifteen artists have travelled to the Yellow River Huang He in China, to the city of Singapore, and to Malacca in Malaysia, carrying with them their canvas and capturing the sights and scenes along the way. Together, they bring about an impressive showcase of over sixty paintings, capturing each of their own art expression and heritage, which combines the aesthetic strengths of Eastern and Western culture.
Nanyang-Link Huang-He-Spirit Oil Painting Exhibition captures the milestones of Eastern oil painting and its future development.
This exhibition is jointly organised by Anni D Arts, the Federation of Art Societies (Singapore), the Malaysian Contemporary Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Association, and SC Painting & Calligraphy Identification Centre Pte Ltd, with sponsorship from the National Arts Council, the Singapore Arts Federation, and the Lee Foundation.
