In a span of decades, the Internet has evolved from a simple network for transmitting limited data to a sociocultural phenomenon that has altered the way users receive and process information. This information highway has brought forth an influx of content through numerous online platforms at a rapid rate. From sensational news stories to clickbait articles, celebrity gossip to memes; there is fierce competition for the user’s attention. The frenetic pace at which content is created, distributed and consumed has made it challenging to determine the legitimacy of the information presented. The advent of “fast media” and digital anonymity has altered the way individuals communicate and how they negotiate their roles in an increasingly fragmented society.
In Network Neurosis, creative studio Tell Your Children critiques this phenomenon by examining how individuals react to the daily bombardment of information in the digital realm through illustrations and video projections.
