#NEVERBEFORESG is Singapore’s first and largest online art showcase with newly commissioned works by Singapore-based artists in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Running from 5 October, #NEVERBEFORESG is guest curated by fashion designer veteran and multi-disciplinary artist Yang Derong and will feature 140 works from 91 creatives.
The National Museum is one of the 12 programme partners curating their response as part of Proposals for Novel Ways of Being, a joint initiative by local art institutions and independent art spaces and collectives, and spearheaded by the National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Art Museum. The exhibitions and programmes explore new ways of living in a world changed by the pandemic and consider how art can imagine new possibilities for the future and inspire hope during these times.
Through nine chapters that reflect various themes on the circumstances during Singapore’s circuit breaker period, the online art showcase features works created through various mediums such as photography, fashion, visual arts, lyrical verse and gaming that portray different perspectives of life during the pandemic.
