Karel Appel, Personnage, 1969
“New School of Paris: 1950s–Present” at Opera Gallery Singapore features renowned artists such as Karel Appel, Jean Dubuffet, Philippe Hiquily, Georges Mathieu, Pierre Soulages, and Zao Wou-Ki.
The exhibition pays homage to post-World War II Paris art movements, showcasing a diverse range of artworks that tell a compelling story of Tachisme, Lyrical Abstraction, and Art Informel.
Highlighted works include Philippe Hiquily’s “Girouette Ete, 2013,” which captures the essence of biomorphic forms, and Pierre Soulages’s explorations of light and dark through a restrained colour palette.
