Ongoing at multidisciplinary space Appetite, New Tropics examines the idea and imagery of the tropical, bringing together works by contemporary artists of Southeast Asian origin that interrogate what ‘the tropics’ have come to mean or signify, while addressing and subverting its tropes and assumptions. Spanning a variety of mediums and approaches, these works ask what it means to make work in and about the tropics, and how these may be read within a global discourse.
