Nostalgia Timur is a solo exhibition by Husin Othman. His works touch on childhood memories, granting the viewers a reflective perspective on the long lost but not forgotten memories of the past.
This exhibition presents an exciting insight into the progressive development of Husin’s artistic career. Audiences will be able to view his transformation from as early as 2014, with his strong signature strokes of realist figures set against a minimalist background, to year 2018 where his composition becomes more complex yet with a harmonious blend of bright and bold solid forms, up to his current and latest development where he revisits his well-known free hand lines and contours that amalgamate subtly into his paintings.
Nostalgia Timur is a personal reflection of the artist to bring back lost memories. Seeing these paintings will naturally bring a smile to anyone as they are an advocation of memories of Southeast Asian culture and a past narrative that still hold a very strong value to our hearts.
