Oil on Acrylic, The Inconceivable – Allen Tang Solo Exhibition showcases pieces of art from acclaimed homegrown artist Allen Tang that highlights his unique blend of oil paintings on acrylic board, a profound skill that he mastered after years of honing his craft. Never one to stick to the status quo, Allen’s dynamic style is ever-changing and can be seen in the wide variety of art pieces in his collection. His paintings are often multi-faceted and can be intricate yet bold, simple yet lively, or distinctive yet hazy, demonstrating his fluid and unpredictable style.
Using a unique blend of oil paints, watercolours and ink, Allen’s paintings address five distinct areas – language, depth, movement, impact and change. He often regards his paintings as separate entities by themselves – be it as a story, an experience, a recollection or a belief – to convey their thoughts and emotions at the very moment of creation.
Having had acclaimed solo exhibitions in France, China & Singapore, Allen draws on a wealth of experiences both local and overseas for inspiration. He is also the disciple of Singapore renowned pioneer female artist and art educator, San Yan 沈雁 (born 1919-2010). His work has also been collected by corporations and celebrities, such as singer Wakin Chau, film star Jackie Chan and song writer Li Zong Sheng.
