This exhibition at artcommune gallery features a selection of 15 oil paintings by renowned second-generation artist, Tan Choh Tee (b. 1942). Critically acclaimed for his refined brushwork and palette knife technique in oil paintings of landscape and still life subject matters, Choh Tee was awarded the Cultural Medallion by the Singapore Government in 2006 for his artistic accomplishments and contributions to the local art scene. The showcase includes his early Singapore scenes from the 1970s as well as the more current landscape scenes painted in Bali and China.
In conjunction with the exhibition, there will be an informative talk on Tan Choh Tee’s art on 21 May 2016, 7 – 8.30pm, at artcommune gallery. This special talk aims to introduce audience to the aesthetics in Tan Choh Tee’s work and his significant contribution to Singapore’s modern art scene.
