Maya Dance Theatre (MDT) presents a novel creation, PANCHA. The production will be staged over a period of three years enabling Maya and its audience to jointly follow this journey of exploration. The possibilities and creativity will evolve during this time unleashing new and interesting chapters at every stage.
Inspired by the correlative concept of nature’s Elements, Wind, Fire, Water, Earth & Aether, each work in PANCHA expounds these elements in relation to a female archetype. These works will be presented in various sites around Singapore under the direction of MDT’s artistic director, Kavitha Krishnan.
To infuse fresh perspective and uniqueness every element of PANCHA will be co-created by Kavitha in collaboration with a different choreographer. Each will bring their own individuality and diverse background giving rise to a new outcome each time. This keeps in line with Maya’s ethos of presenting the essence of tradition, emotion and exploration in contemporary formats.
PANCHA – Murmurs in the Wind, the first creation, will be presented from 01-02 July 2016 at a local community building: Singai Tamil Sangam.
