Following Ng’s 2017 participation at the Jeju Biennale, Korea, this is the artist’s fourth solo with the gallery. PERFECT STRANGER is an installation that transforms the gallery into a soft, undulating sea of colour across a single plane. 48 vast sheets of paper lie in parallel synchronicity with each other, to form a surreal stratosphere of text and colour. Each sheet emits a phosphorescence, arising from a synthesis of shades, unique to and reflective of its script. This arresting textual artworks capture Dawn’s phantasmagorical world, as the synthesis between the almost conscious and the conscious mind is crystallized as the text and colour converge.
