The Philippine Embassy in Singapore is proud to announce Art Trek 15, featuring 19 talented Filipino artists, in collaboration with 4 prominent Singapore galleries. This exciting event will commence on 22 September until the first week of December.
Since its inception in 2007, Art Trek has been a platform for showcasing the works of over 200 Filipino artists in Singapore. This initiative has symbolized the deep-rooted cultural and artistic connections between the two nations.
Art Trek has carved out a distinct space within Singapore’s dynamic cultural landscape, making it the centerpiece of the Embassy’s cultural diplomacy program.
The inaugural exhibition of Art Trek 15 will be presented by Gajah Gallery Singapore, entitled, “In Excess.” This group exhibition, curated by Joyce Toh, features 11 contemporary Filipino artists. It delves into the concept of “excess” with all its multifaceted meanings and explores the tensions between its negative and positive connotations. This exhibition will run from 22 September to 22 October 2023, at Gajah Gallery Singapore’s location on Keppel Road in Tanjong Pagar Distripark.
From 29 September to 11 October 2023, the Philippine Embassy will host a solo exhibition by Singapore-based Filipino artist Precious Nakpil-Lai, entitled, “In a Kaleidoscope World,” as a tribute to her students with special needs.
Olal’Art will feature a solo exhibition by the young cacao artist John Paul “JP” T. Choa on 13-25 October 2023. JP’s unique artistic style involves using melted cacao diluted in water as a paint substitute.
On 14 October 2023, the New Art Museum of the Whitestone Gallery (139 Keppel Road, #05-03/06 Tanjong Pagar Distripark, Singapore 089065) will debut with a solo exhibition by Filipino artist Ronald Ventura. As the first Southeast Asian artist to be represented by Whitestone Gallery, Ventura’s paintings and sculptures are known for their rich metaphors and distinctive style within Southeast Asian contemporary art. Alongside the exhibition, the museum will also release limited edition prints made by Ventura and the museum.
Also, Olal’Art returns with a showcase of Filipino and Singaporean artists from 27 October to 08 November 2023.
