Find out how classical Chinese poetry can be reimagined through a local lens when expressed through calligraphy at Poetic Strokes : Singapore’s Classical Chinese Poetry in Calligraphy. Presented by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and National University of Singapore, the exhibition invites 10 local calligraphers including Choo Thiam Siew and Yong Cheong Thye to introduce fresh takes on 22 poems through artistic depictions of familiar landscapes from HDB flats and the Merlion, to our favourite tropical fruits and expressions of evolving sentiments and identities of the local Chinese. The selection comprises works from renowned poets who have lived in Singapore over the years, including Khoo Seok Wan, Huang Zunxian and Pan Shou. Pop by and discover Chinese poetry anew through calligraphic strokes of this place we call home.
