In this poignant exhibition, refugees living in Malaysia share multifaceted stories about their lived experience of displacement. These newly commissioned works reveal a profound yearning for a home that once cradled their dreams intertwined with a longing for acceptance in a newfound community. Through symbolic motifs and traditional elements, culture anchors exploration of the self alongside the complexities of forced migration. Amidst the uncertain status of those seeking asylum and profound challenges of displacement, hope plays an important motivational role and resilience emerges as another common thread. While the artists are unable to travel to Singapore for the show, they invite you to share in their aspirations for a brighter, more inclusive future.
