In “preload”, Iwan Effendi revisits his memories and artistic process of meeting the seven individuals whose fragments of stories became the basis of a prior performance by Papermoon Puppet Theatre. Unlike Iwan’s earlier works that depicted what he called ‘the daydreaming face’, the works in preload present lively and expressive faces that contain traces of stories of loss, fear, sorrow, and uncertainty —faces that pique one’s curiosity.
