Punggok Rindukan Bulan is a Malay saying, directly translated as ‘the owl misses the moon’, a reflection of unrequited longing. Set in the border town of Johor Bahru, Malaysia, the film focuses on a teenage boy, Sidi and his father Adman, who are faced with the sudden absence of a key female figure in their life.
