Quora Fora: A Rehearsal

On 16 March at W!LD RICE @ Funan, Singaporean artist Jason Wee will be presenting his multidisciplinary performance-installation, Quora Fora: A Rehearsal, for the final time during Singapore Biennale 2019 (SB2019).

The sixth edition of this international contemporary art exhibition, titled Every Step in the Right Direction, features 77 artists and art collectives from 36 countries and territories. Commissioned by the National Arts Council and organised by Singapore Art Museum (SAM), SB2019 runs until 22 March 2020 across 11 venues in the city.

Specially commissioned for SB2019, Jason combines an original poetic libretto, choreography, and costumes with new contemporary choral music written by composers Li-Chuan Chong and Aran O’Grady, in an immersive theatrical set designed by architect Quck Zhong Yi of asolidplan. With this team of collaborators, Jason seeks to examine the notions and ideals in the quorum – referring to the minimum number of members of a deliberative assembly – required for any democratic activation.

The performances are free with registration and presented as a pair, with two distinct and complementary performances at 7pm and 9pm. Between performances, viewers can mingle and engage in conversation with the artist at the W!LD RICE bar.
