Supported by National Arts Council, Re: joy is an art exhibition organised by Very Special Arts Singapore to showcase artworks by artists with disabilities. With more than 100 pieces of paintings being exhibited over 5 days, the event is also known as the largest platform for people with special needs to achieve financial independence through art making. The artists featured in the show are of age 21 and above and have different types of disability; from mental, physical to sensory.
Joy is commonly regarded as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness, and “RE:” simply refer to “in the matter of ” (in Latin) or “in regards to” in today’s context. Hence, by adding “RE:” before “Joy”, we are asking our artists (with special needs) to express freely what Joy truly means to them through their artworks.
