Pan Pacific Singapore and Goshen Art Gallery present RETROSPECT, Retrospective works of Khan Siong Ann.
This exhibition is held in commemoration for Mr Khan Siong Ann, a renowned local oil painter who has passed on last year due to COVID-19 complications. Mr. Khan has enjoyed painting since young and had the opportunity to further explore his interest in the City of Art – Paris, France. From 1974 to 1998, he studied various forms of western painting methods for 15 years before returning to Singapore. His lifelong pursuit of painting and persistent efforts have made him one of Singapore’s national treasure. Mr Khan’s artistic love for the two countries are reflective in his works of the Seine River and vitality of the Singapore River.
Khan’s works exude a strong classicism complex, elements of European Impressionism and Modernism in the early 20th century. The usage of dignified colors in his paintings conveyed the emotions and a sense of compassion. These excellent qualities and styles made it easy for him to form connections with some of the pioneer local artists with European heritage, which is rare among contemporary Singaporean painters.
