Romantic Reveries presents 25 beautiful oil paintings of landscape and still life scenes by Chinese artist, Xing Qing Xin. Born in 1968 in Dali, Shaanxi province, China, Xing Qing Xin grew up in a family of painters. He became a full-time artist after graduating from the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 1990, and like his father and elder brother, established a name for himself in oil painting. He enjoys a well-regarded reputation in Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi province, which is also a great cultural centre in China.
Often executed plein-air with lyrical brushwork and skilful palette knife sculpting, Xing Qing Xin’s work captures the tranquil yet luxuriant nature of Chinese countryside: historic water villages, countryside abodes and flourishing greeneries are common subject matters that teem with life and passion in his oil paintings. The sensitive mood and technique in his rendering of landscapes under different seasons also reflects his influence by Western greats like Isaac Levitan and Vincent van Gogh.
