During Sabine Wild’s first trip in October 2016, she was fascinated with Singapore’s urban life and the harmonious blend between the urban structures and the Rainforest – living up to Singapore’s plan of becoming the greenest metropolis in Asia.
Every major city possesses its own character and vibes. Sabine Wild was captivated by the various architectural masterpieces around Singapore and it became the catalyst for her inspirations and work creations.
In this new series, Singapore Projection, Sabine Wild tries to portray Singapore in all her glory – busy ports and ever-changing landscape of modern skyscraper seemingly blending into the background of traditional shop houses – with a touch of her own artistic style. Through digital blurring, Sabine Wild deconstructs urban architecture in her own unique manner, mixing gestural painting and artistic photography in a masterfully elegant way. The vertical and horizontal hatching creates a flickering structure, providing hints of an underlying reality mixed with illusions.
