Sansiri x The IBEX Collection

Emanuele Dascanio - Ouroboros - The Missing Link

Sansiri partners with The IBEX Collection to present a private collection of contemporary figurative and hyperrealist paintings from 15 May – 9 June 2019 at SIRI HOUSE Dempsey, Singapore.

The group exhibition connects 20 artists from 12 countries in a fine collection of paintings from The IBEX Collection, the largest active and privately-owned collection of contemporary figurative super-realist art in the world. Showing for the first time in Singapore, the world-class group exhibition celebrates the development and growing importance of contemporary hyperrealism in the world of Art.

The heart of the collection lies in the fascinating world of figurative hyperrealism where each piece has a focus on micro-expression through exceptional technical mastery and deeper commentary, whether emotional, social, cultural or political. The collective exhibition in Singapore will showcase Master Link works by internationally acclaimed hyperrealist artists; each piece a work of art in its own right but also functioning as composite links towards large format grand Masterpieces by each artist. Master Links act as a key to unlock hidden information in the Master painting and also to relay a different perspective on the central message of the Artist. The final Masterpieces will be unveiled at The IBEX Masters in New York this coming September 2019.

An independent art movement that gained traction in the early ‘70s, hyperrealism evolved from photorealism where artists attempted to reproduce a photograph as realistically as possible, going beyond mere literal imitation to achieve a new simulated reality. Far from being an imitation of photography, hyperrealist art strives to unveil something that is beneath the realistic image, challenging the viewers’ perception and inviting closer contemplation. They aim to create a new, simulated reality rendered with micro-expressions of finely wrought detail, texture, lighting and perspective.
