Singapore Bicentennial 2019 Exhibition is presented by Singapore Art Society, a symbolic culmination of both art and history. While history is often presented in written form, artists from the Society endeavour to express their views and impressions of the country’s history various artistic formats. This medium not only enables the presentation of a static recount of events and happenings, but it also allows the artists to relate to how historical events affect the daily lives of Singaporeans. History is viewed from many various cultural viewpoints, and the artworks are composed through the different use of materials and forms, from calligraphies, acrylic and oils to Chinese ink paintings.
Through the medium of art, the defining aspects of Singapore’s identity, including the city-state’s multiracial culture strengthened through years of cohesion and harmony, will be on show. During the exhibition, there will be art tours conducted by members of the Singapore Art Society too.
