The highly anticipated Singapore Clay Festival which celebrates all things clay will return for its second full edition at a larger venue, with more than 200 clay makers bringing over 3,000 unique ceramic works for the Clay Makers’ Market at ArtSpace@HeluTrans in Tanjong Pagar Distripark. Presenting the creative breadth and depth of Singapore’s professional and hobbyist clay makers, the Festival which runs from 2 to 5 November will also have a slew of fun and educational activities such as demonstrations, workshops and even a “live” clay-making competition inspired by UK Channel 4’s Great Pottery Throw Down television series.
Building on the resounding success of its inaugural edition and the annual Clay Makers’ Market, the 2023 edition of Singapore Clay Festival will allow for an even grander showcase of talent and
creativity within the ceramics community; especially with three specially curated exhibitions – Shaping Clay, Ng Eng Teng at Studio 106, and RED: Works from Singapore Clay – all of which
represent different facets of the development of Singapore’s studio pottery culture since the 1980s.
The Singapore Clay Festival will also host five community tables in the Clay Makers’ Market for the sale of works made by potters from A:2:A Collective and several social service agencies helmed by SG Enable – namely JOURNEY by TOUCH, Arts@Metta, The Art Faculty, and Art:Dis – exemplifying the festival’s commitment to building community.
