START at Gillman Barracks is a brand new three-day art and lifestyle event introduced with the aim of developing and encouraging potential art collectors and art enthusiasts to start collecting art.
START at Gillman Barracks allows art and design enthusiasts who have yet to buy their first work to discover more about contemporary art, and to explore how one can become a collector on any budget. Artworks with an average cost of $4,000 will be made available for purchase from Gillman Barracks’ resident galleries such as FOST Gallery, Ota Fine Arts, Sundaram Tagore Gallery Singapore, Richard Koh Fine Art, Sullivan+Strumpf and Mizuma Gallery.
Themed around collecting and curating for the home or office, START at Gillman Barracks will feature a dedicated retail space with contemporary art, limited edition prints, furniture and fashion by local designers and brands, as well as film screenings on art and collecting. This will be complemented by tours of the precinct led by personalities such as comedian Rishi Budhrani, radio broadcaster Simone Heng and cultural enthusiast Brenda Tan.
