Surface Design: Discover the tactile quality of fabrics

Selected works by featured designers: (top left, bottom right) River Ripples by Leong Minyi; (top right, bottom left) weave samples from the shaft loom by Tiffany Loy.

Discover the tactile quality of handmade textiles. Two talented Singaporean designers will give a talk and put the focus on the colour, pattern, structure of fiber, and fabrication that make each swathe of handcrafted textile one-of-a-kind.

Leong Minyi, founder of Mai Textile Studio, has a deep interest for indigo dyeing, traditional textile and craft. Tiffany Loy, an industrial designer, has experimented with prototyping in textile, timber, laminate and print.

Following their talk, you can visit a mini-showcase and view a demonstration to discover and appreciate the remarkable tactile quality of textile.
