The Body in Beige, Sienna and Umber features works by artist Koeh Sia Yong as part of Singapore Art Week 2024.
Western art has long since displayed a fascination with the nude, be it for academic or artistic purposes, the lines of which were not always distinct. This focus on the nude form is similarly reflected in Koeh Sia Yong’s oil paintings of women, in line with the Western painting techniques he learned in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Though generally categorised by an impressionistic style, the varying intensity of the lighting used in the paintings produces a range of artworks visually distinct from each other.
