The central theme of the exhibition by Lakshmi Mohanbabu is inspired by Chinese Opera, emotions to depict the various feelings of the nation from despair to joy over the past 50 years of Singapore’s independence.
The unique nature of her art is that it has and brings out her architectural background of precision lines and symmetry, whilst in a minimalistic way expressing her feelings through her paint and brush.
Lakshmi is a Singaporean who grew up in Kabul Afghanistan during the late 70’ and 80’s. She is a trained architect (B.Arch) and a Fashion designer who graduated from the leading Fashion Design College, The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) New Delhi.
