Running concurrently alongside Lim Soo Ngee’s exhibition in room 1 is The Wanderer: Detour, a solo exhibition by Malaysian mixed media artist and children’s book author C K Koh in room 2.
In these times of seclusion and solitude, we have plunged into a world of uncertainty. The Wanderer: Detour calls for audiences to reflect and find ways to search for new experiences. Koh’s works appear to have a cheery outlook from the onset. They also address serious underlying topics, capturing the spirit of a generation.
In The Wanderer: Detour, Boxboy, the alias of Koh, ventures into Earth. From cats to squirrels to a trio of hedgehogs, Boxboy encounters several animals, sounds and places on his journey, a scene that reflects Koh’s own emotional journey into the unknown. Conjured up by Koh’s curiosity towards forgotten spaces, the exotic landscapes provide new perspectives into the places that inevitably gets lost with time.
