Goshen Art Gallery continues it 5th edition of art installation; this time presenting Monica Chua’s 30 pieces of original art works of ink and water colour that she has created during her years of travel through America, Canada, central Europe and Asia.
Born and raised in Singapore, Monica aspired to be an artist at the age of 18 and enrolled in a vocational institute to study fabric design. Thereafter, she studied Chinese art under the tutelage of accomplished master artists, See Hiang Tuo and Fan Cheng Tien, who taugther her the techniques of calligraphy and brush paintings, In 1982, Monica graduated from the Nayang Acedemy of Fine Arts and in 1988, the Central Institute of Fine Arts in Beijing, where she studies Chinese brush painting, and specialised in figure and portrait painting. Monica’s favourite subjects; landscapes, flowers, portraits and Chinese calligraphy dominates her extensive body of work, which she has crafted using mediums such as Chinese brush, watercolour, oil and pastel.
