The exhibiting artists present new works that are the latest instalments in each of their long-term explorations into cultural tropes and expectations of Asian women. Kanchana Gupta’s Production of Desire deconstructs femininity as fetishised in commercial Indian cinema of the 1980s and 1990s. Yanyun Chen’s Three Days sees a bride grieving the loss of who she was, while on the cusp of assuming the expectations of a wife.
