UltraSuperNew explores notions of the collective memory with two young, emerging artists in their latest showcase W ho? . In this three-way collaboration, one tries to remember, one cannot recall and one is attempting to forget. In this seven-day exhibition, the artists, Dylan Chan and Odelia Yen work with UltraSuperNew to see how traces of events and people linger in the mind. They question the passing faces of people we encounter, and if we notice them despite how our minds store such information without us consciously knowing? Held at UltraSuperNew Gallery, Singapore, this dream-like show experiments with curatorial aspects with audiences through the works.
Largely focusing on text, photographs and cyanotype printing, the artists work through ideas of memory creation, erasure and misplacement. Together with UltraSuperNew, they look to the collective to attempt to ground the intangible through similarities and disparities discovered in the collective memory.
