In honour of the life and work of the Singapore painter and late NAFA alumna Kit Tan Juat Lee (1953-2022), the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, together with the family of the artist are proud to present a tribute exhibition and accompanying publication both titled With All My Heart: Kit Tan Juat Lee 全心全意:陈月丽.
Held at the Lim Hak Tai Gallery from 12 – 24 April 2024, the exhibition will feature a selection of 33 works spanning over three decades and pays tribute to her artistic legacy, one that draws deeply from her love for classical Chinese literature, art and philosophy that is fuelled by a keen intellect and curiosity. Tan’s works offer a richly visual representation of her life, each work telling its own story, that captivates our eyes and touch the heart. The book features 11 writings by the late artist alongside her works, as well as an introduction by Dr Bridget Tracy Tan, to help us appreciate the depth and ingenuity of Kit Tan, as an artist and educator.
Tan was a graduate of Nanyang University (formerly Nantah) and taught the Chinese language as a teacher for 17 years before she decided to pursue her art full-time. Her artistic accomplishments gained recognition both locally and regionally, earning accolades and special mentions at esteemed art events including the ASEAN Art Awards, Sovereign Asian Art Prize and the UOB Painting of the Year Competition where she clinched the Grand Prize twice, in 1997 and 2004.
