Wu Guanzhong: Travelling with the Master investigates the spirit of travel through the docent-curators’ eyes, offering fresh perspectives of the Chinese ink master’s art. With a mixture of abstract paintings, sketches and realist depictions by Wu, aspects of conceptual, physical, imaginative, and emotional travel are illustrated for audiences to discover and contemplate.
Guided by the Gallery’s curators, the team of 4 docent-curators bring together their study on Wu’s art and biography, and their inspirations from his travels and philosophy to shape and develop the exhibition, exhibition materials and public programmes. Their stories and connections with the Chinese ink master are intimately captured in this exhibition, pairing their personal photographs and reflections with Wu’s masterpieces. Audiences are invited to draw on their own personal experiences and embark on a journey to discover dynamic aspects of travel through Wu’s works together.
