Autistic teen artist Alex Lim aka The Unskilled Boy has released his limited-edition It’s OK postcards series. The theme of the 12 postcards represents the 18-year-old’s candid attitude to everyday situations and life in general.
This is Alex’s first foray into digital art. Besides painting, he has been drawing and designing his own animal flash cards. Having practised digital collage on design programmes using vectors for more than six months, It’s OK postcard series is a new addition to Alex’s expanded repertoire of works.
In January and February 2024, two of Alex’s abstract paintings – House On A Hill and Mountains & Hills – were among nine works from Singapore exhibited at ArtPara at the Gangneung Arts Center in South Korea, in conjunction with the Youth Winter Olympic Games in Gangwon. This was right after the teen exhibited as an Individual Artist – and was commissioned for a collection of merchandise – at Singapore’s Shaping Hearts art festival in November and December 2023.
Animal Theme Postcards
Alex centres the postcards’ pictorial theme on his deep love for animals. It’s OK comes from a meaningful lifelong learning for the autistic teen that’s it’s OK to be different and imperfect – and to accept things or people for who and what they are. Alex hopes to spread the message with his postcards to everyone.
The complete set of 12 A6-sized postcards is priced at $25. A set of six is priced at $16, while three postcards are priced at $10. Delivery is free in Singapore. The sets can be purchased on The Unskilled Boy’s website www.theunskilledboy.com
