In the fifth instalment of the highly successful PantoneMyArt series, tcc – The Connoisseur Concerto presents a new radical perspective to their audience with the PantoneMyArt – Tattoo in Colour exhibition from 15th January to 30th March 2015 at the exclusive tcc “The Gallery” at 51 Circular Road.
The exhibition features ten of Singapore’s top tattoo artists, who have each designed an artwork in a predominant Pantone colour of their choice. Instead of using the body as a medium, these artists transferred the body art onto paper and created artworks that have once originated from a design they have tattooed on someone before, or one stemming from their own personal inspirations that is aligned to their tattooing style.
Tattoos have existed for over 70 centuries and have undergone a unique metamorphosis throughout the years, taking on numerous forms and surviving countless cycles of cultural evolution. Today, apart from being a mainstream cultural force and a creative form of self-expression and style, tattoos are also recognised as a form of body art.
Presented by tcc – The Connoisseur Concerto, Ms Abbey Chang, Assistant Vice-President for Business Development, expressed that tcc is proud to support the arts all these years, and is excited to pay homage to the tattooing heritage and to showcase the level of beauty and essence this body art form has to offer.
As PantoneMyArt 2015 celebrates the 45th exhibition which art-management.com has organised for tcc, Claude Verly, who is the creative driving force of this exhibition, is looking forward for this exhibition to bring awareness to the popular tattoo culture as well as to push the boundaries of art in this progressive city-state.
The artists participating in PantoneMyArt – Tattoo in Colour are: Ash Goh using Iris Purple; Bradley Tan using Sun-glow Yellow; Feroze McLeod working with Tangerine Orange; Fleecircus using Cobalt Blue; Moon Pang using Olive Green; Mudohori working with Deep Pink; Augustine Nezumi using Cyan; Lionel Ng using Jet Black; Vernon. V. Koh using Chestnut Brown; and Chris Sim working with Crimson Red. In addition to these artists’ works, the talented Slovak photographer Jana Zilcayova has taken a series of photographs capturing the soul and essence of each tattoo artist, which will be displayed alongside the artworks.
